In an empty attempt to win over New Hampshire voters John Edwards compared himself to the World Series champion Boston Red Sox. Or maybe he was predicting a clean sweep in November, which is another great Sawks trait. You can read the article here.

Sawks pick up two veteran pitchers

The Sawks signed veteran pitchers Jon Switzer and Michael Tejera to minor league contracts and invited them to spring training this season.
Switzer 28, has spent his major league career with Tampa garnering a career record of 2-4 and 6.11 ERA. Tejera has spent time with three major league teams compiling an 11-13 career record with a 5.14 ERA in 111 major league appearances. Hopefully they can pan out and be viable bullpen options this season for The Sawks.

The Sawks top a list of milestones and stories to watch for in 2008. The question here is will they be the first team since the 1999 and 2000 Yankmees teams to repeat as World Series champs. If you were to ask me, on top of the phenomenal pitching staff that may or may not include Johan Santana. We have the best bullpen in baseball and batting order that helped win a world series while half the team was having down hitting years. Its in the bag baby. (i'm not really that cocky actually i'm a little scared of Detroit at this point but i'll put on a brave face)

Back In The Saddle

After an extended vacation im back and ready to get down to the nitty gritty. I dont know if i've posted this before but my ambition is for this site to be where you go for all your Sawks info. So if you have an opinion an idea or anything send it to me and ill be glad to debate it or post it. Which ever one fits.

A Six Man Rotation ?

Could THE SAWKS go with a six man rotation next season? Barring a trade for Johan Santana, it may not be so far fetched. Right now THE SAWKS have Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling, Dice K, Tim Wakefield, Jon Lester, and young phenom Clay Buckholz. I believe the reason know one employs the six man rotation is because no one has a pitching staff strong enough. Heck most teams have trouble finding viable 3 and 4 options let alone 6.
The pros of this are numerous. Here are a couple.
-Each pitcher would benefit from the extra days rest. Well, besides SChilling who's bonus goes by innings pitched. I guarantee his 42 year old body will benefit though.One reason for Dice K's struggles was adapting to shorter rest having worked with a six man rotation.
-With each pitcher having extra rest they are more likely to go to deeper into games putting less stress on the bullpen. Which would definetly benefit any team down the stretch.
I see no clear drawback here. If they do go to five who is the odd man out here.
obviously not Beckett nor Schilling or Dice K. So ...
-Wakefield - a knuckleballer needs to get in a groove and it would be hard to find a groove pitching only one inning. This also limits his effectiveness in the next days game. Seeing as how after seeing the knuckleball many Hall of Famers have said it takes a game or two to get into a hitting groove again.
-Lester - One of the great stories in baseball not only that but some in THE SAWKS orginization would have you believe he was a better prospect than Paplebon. How can you take that kind of potetial out of your rotation?
- Buckholz - Lets see.. something like four career big league starts one no hitter, one shutout and another game which would have been if not for an error. The guy is a superstar in waiting.
THE SAWKS could field the greatest 6 man rotation ever. They have my vote.

Beckett Robbed !!!

Josh Beckett was robbed earlier to day when C.C. Sabathia was awarded the 2007 American League CY Young. C.C. recieved 19 of 28 firsrt place votes while Beckett only recieved 8. I mean in all honesty Sabathia is a good pitcher, a very good pitcher. Buy most certainly not the best pitcher in the American League. Heck he isn't even the best pitcher on his team. That honor goes to Carmona.
Just another example of THE SAWKS getting the shaft in the award department. Going back to last year, Ortiz was hoodwinked out of the MVP. Mike Lowell has gotten the shaft two years in a row in the gold glove department and dont get me started on
Ped-Rock and Coco crisp not winning gold gloves this year. I just don't understand the voters bias against THE SAWKS. Maybe Steinbrenner is the only voter.
